Located at 2037 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, Twisted Roots Kava Brewery is a “theme park styled exotic paradise” where you can “enjoy a collection of unique beverages from all over the world.” After building a fan base with the themed kava concept, the team behind Twisted Roots is now preparing to launch a parallel cat-themed specialty coffee shop.
Called Professor Perks Curious Cafe, the new specialty coffee house opening at 445 N Andrews Ave, Suite 1 is based on a fictional cat character who, one day, gets into the coffee stash of the professor he lives with, turns sentient, and decides to open a cafe to share coffee with other four-legged (and two-legged) friends.
“One half of the menu is going to be a traditional cafe menu,” owner Darren Perlmutter told What Now on Tuesday. “The other half is going to be very whimsical and fanciful. Blueberry muffin lattes; peanut butter and jelly coffee.”
Other menu details are still under wraps for now—but we know that there will be special coffee analogues for cats and dogs and that a portion of all proceeds will go to support local animal rescues.
Professor Perks is expected to open in Q1 of 2025, Perlmutter said. More news will be coming out soon.
