According to SF Eater, Milk Bar in Haight-Ashbury has permanently shuttered.

The space, however, will stay in the family. The son of Milk Bar’s former owner, Louie Caponi, will join forces with partner Neil Holbrook to debut a new Irish pub, O’Reilly’s.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Milk Bar, the establishment was located at 1840 Haight Street — near eateries such as Cha Cha Cha Caribbean restaurant, Flywheel Coffee Roasters, and Whole Foods Market — and described itself as a “club with local bands & DJs spinning anything from dubstep to dancehall, plus comedians some nights” on its Google Business page.

What Now San Francisco spoke briefly with Caponi, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, he tells Hoodline, “The amount of foot traffic here is phenomenal… Felt like it was wasted a little bit, but also Milk Bar had a great run. It needed a rebrand.”

An opening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
