Casa Mañana is opening a second location at 901 4th St. in San Rafael, only a few blocks over from their original outpost at 711 D St. The news comes from a recent liquor license application filed with the State of California in September. Owner Margarita Almandares confirmed to What Now San Francisco that the 4th St. location is scheduled to open in late October.

Almandares commented that the second Casa Mañana Restaurant will be in a “beautiful location,” taking over a space that was previously known as Iron Springs Public House. She mentions that she is also looking forward to a partnership with Peet’s Coffee, which will pair nicely with their breakfast offerings, such as Huevos Rancheros or Chilaquiles Verdes con Huevos.

Serving a robust menu for any taste, Casa Mañana prides themselves on making every dish fresh and from scratch – nothing out of a can, according to their Yelp page. The most popular dishes include Pupusas, Chile Relleno, and the Enchilada Vallarta which is made with plantains and is completely vegetarian.

Almandares opened Casa Mañana Restaurant in 1979 and has been running the business with her family ever since. Serving authentic recipes that she inherited from her own mother, Almandares made her restaurant into a certified San Rafael establishment over the past three decades. The oldest family-owned Mexican restaurant in Marin County, Casa Mañana is open everyday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
