Lomo Libre Cantina will open at 1824 Irving St. in the Sunset District. Chef Jose Calvo-Perez, who also owns and operates Fresca in Inner Sunset, began operating Lomo Libre as a food truck in 2018. He confirms that Lomo Libre Cantina is his latest venture and hopes to open doors to the public in January 2022

Lomo Libre Cantina will serve all of the food truck’s greatest Peruvian fusion hits, such as the Lomorrito, Lomo Nachos, and of course, Lomo Saltado. Lomo Saltado is a traditional Peruvian dish of tender steak strips, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and french fries, all stir-fried in a secret soy sauce blend and served over steaming white rice.

Perez says that with a permanent kitchen at the new restaurant, they will be able to experiment with more Lomo Saltado spin-offs to expand their menu. He notes that the space they are taking over was fashioned as a sports bar, so Lomo Libre Cantina will follow a similar layout with plenty of TVs and a full bar, serving mouthwatering sips such as Pisco Sours and Margaritas

“We are excited to introduce Lomo Libre Cantina, which will have a fun atmosphere for guests to grab great drinks and savor delicious food,” says Perez. He also assures that the food truck will continue to operate throughout the city. To find out where they’ll park next or for updates on the cantina, visit www.lomolibre.com.
