Grand Coffee is going big for 2022, and by that we mean they’re working on opening larger, second location. SF Chronicle reports that the small Mission coffee shop is expanding up the road to 2544 Mission St.
While their current outpost stands at around 200 square-feet, the second location promises more space in which customers can enjoy their beverages on-site, either at the indoor bar or an outdoor table. The bigger floor plan also means that Grand Coffee will have chances to experiment and extend the menu with specialty drinks and large-format coffee.
Think a carafe filled with Grand Coffee’s Guatemala Cafe de Mujer that can be shared among a group of friends. They also plan to highlight more local bakers of color with their rotating pastry selection. Currently they work with Bake Sum Pastries, Kahnfections, and Norte45.
They will continue to roast their own beans out of West Oakland and supply local grocery stores, bakeries, and restaurants. Grand Coffee was founded by Nabeel Silmi, a Palestinian-American with many years in the restaurant industry under his belt. In 2010, he created Grand Coffee as a “welcoming, approachable” space to enjoy coffee.
He now co-owns the shop with Adrian Lopez and Kimberly Kim, who were previously longtime employees at Grand Coffee. Silmi tells the Chronicle that Grand Coffee’s second location is scheduled to open this spring. For more information, visit www.grandcoffeesf.com and follow them on Instagram.
