Plans for a second Cafenated Coffee Co. cafe were announced last summer and now, the ethical coffee roasters have applied for a beer and wine license, according to state public records. CEO Mak Jamasbi tells What Now San Francisco that their targeted opening will now occur this summer

Jamasbi adds that they’ve partnered with chefs Andrew Green and Duncan Kwitkor of Abstract Table to develop a new food program. Menu items will be paired with California sparkling and unique wines, plus local mircobrew beers from places like Seismic Brewing Co.

The reimagined brunch menu will include items such as Suped Up Avocado Toast on Brioche and Eggs Benedict with Yuzu Hollandaise and Parma Ham. Dinner will feature dishes such as Corned Beef Burgers and a daily special of whole roasted fish. There will even be an Oyster and Crudo Bar during Happy Hour.

Jamasbi and wife Parisa founded Cafenated Coffee Co. in 2017 with a mission to support the livelihood of women coffee farmers in Africa, as well as Central and South America. “Women are underrepresented, underpaid, and under appreciated in the global coffee supply chain. By cutting out middlemen, we help women farmers and co-ops sell their coffee direct to American consumers,” Jamasbi says.

The beans from these farms are roasted in small batches in Oakland, and are thus used to create a plethora of delicious coffee drinks served at their cafes. The new cafe will be located at 2960 College Ave. in south Berkeley, but you can get a taste of what’s to come at their first shop on Vine Street.
