Chefs Solomon Johnson and Mike Woods are bringing their supper club, OKO, to downtown Oakland. OKO at Tribune is planned to open in mid-October as a collaboration with Tribune, located on the ground floor of the Tribune Tower. This will be the duo’s first brick-and-mortar location — prior to this, they have been serving pan-African and Creole cuisine at pop-ups and private events in the Bay Area.

Johnson and Woods tell Eater that they don’t plan to make changes to the interior of the 8,400-square-foot space. They do, however, plan to transition from a tasting menu to an a la carte menu in order to make the restaurant a more approachable experience. They share, “We’re really excited to just be able to start showcasing some of the ideas that we have that reflect our food diasporas and philosophy.”

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, OKO and Tribune have signed a one-year operating agreement with the opportunity to extend if both parties are content at the end of the term.
