Ramen Authority will make its debut at 2000 Milvia Street in Berkeley, according to an announcement on the restaurant website. The owner, Stella Loi, has an application for an alcohol license pending for the same address, listing the intention to serve beer, wine, and distilled spirits.

Ramen Authority isn’t Loi’s first ramen restaurant venture — she opened Sobo Ramen, a “hip haunt for carefully sourced ramen and Japanese classics,” in Oakland in 2012.

What Now San Francisco was unable to contact a company representative to confirm details about the Ramen Authority menu, but some of Sobo Ramen’s top dishes, according to their website, include karaage — “crispy fried chicken nuggets marinated in soy sauce, garlic, ginger and sake” — as an appetizer, and spicy miso ramen, shoyu ramen, and spicy tonkotsu ramen with mayu for mains. The drink menu boasts a selection of Japanese beer and sake, as well as their own private-label IPA made in collaboration with East Bay IPA.

Additionally, Sobo Ramen serves lunch and dinner, with delivery and take-out options. The restaurant’s hours of operation are from 11 am to 2:30 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm, seven days a week.

Ramen Authority will land across from the UC Berkeley campus and alongside existing restaurants Cafe Tibet, Platano’s Salvadoran restaurant, El Pollo Picante, Sushi Go Go, and the Korean food joint, Berkeley Social Club.

An opening date has not been announced.
