Recent news of The Korner Store’s intention to relocate came from a note posted on the eatery’s door. In the message, the Korean soju bar meets convenience store shared that it is relocating in order to offer patrons “longer operating hours, live entertainment, and a much bigger space to drink and dance all night long.”
Ina Jungin Lee, the owner of The Korner Store, plans to open BoBop, a new boba tea shop, in its place. At 736 Valencia Street, the shop will land on the block alongside Yellow Moto Pizzeria, Dandelion Chocolate, and the Greek restaurant Souvla.
Ina Jungin Lee tells What Now San Francisco that BoBop’s focus will be boba tea and the Korean dish chobap. She describes chobap as a type of Korean sushi — vinegar rice, or sushi rice, stuffed in a fried tofu skin pocket, and finished with Korean toppings like kimchi. Alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Upon opening, the boba tea and chobap shop will be open from 11 am to 8 pm from Wednesday through Sunday, with plans to eventually operate seven days a week.
An opening date has not yet been announced. Follow @bobopsf on Instagram for updates.
