According to a recent press release, the Burma Love and Burma Superstar family of restaurants is introducing a new concept, Teakwood, in Hayes Valley. The eatery will open at 399 Grove Street, previously home to Akna, near eateries such as BAIA, DragonEats, and Monsieur Benjamin.
The Bay Area-based Burma Food Group shares that Teakwood will remain in line with its existing concepts — offering patrons unique interpretations of Burmese dishes, combined with flavors from neighboring countries Thailand, China, and India.
Burma Food Group’s Brand Manager, Bryanna Yip, shares, “Teakwood represents the best of Burmese food at its core, simply approached in a new way.” She adds, “We wanted to provide diners with a culinary experience rooted in tradition, but this time adding an innovative twist showcasing the vibrance of Burmese flavors and its surrounding cultural influences. The menu is a nod to our rich culinary traditions, and is a collection of our family’s most honored and endeared recipes made with some of Northern California’s best ingredients.”
According to the press release, the eatery will offer lunch, dinner, and a happy hour program.
Teakwood on Grove Street is predicted to open this spring.
