According to a recent beer and wine license application, a new eatery called Shwe Yankin is coming to 63 Saint Francis Square in San Mateo — near eateries such as Supreme Pot, TC Pastry, and Valerio’s Tropical Bake Shop.

What Now San Francisco reached out to the upcoming concept’s owner, Khine Chan, however, due to still being in the planning phase, she wasn’t ready to disclose additional information just yet.

In any case, given the restaurant’s name, readers can reasonably assume that Shwe Yankin’s culinary offering will be influenced by Burmese cuisine. Common in San Francisco proper, but sparse in the greater Bay Area, Chan’s establishment is sure to be welcomed with open arms to Daly City’s burgeoning food and beverage landscape.

Readers unfamiliar with this Southeast Asian cuisine can visit nearby restaurants Ledu or Taste of Burma until Shwe Yankin finally debuts to the public.
