Hobel Wines, a “small, family-owned winery producing high-end Napa Cabernet,” is coming to Calistoga later this summer.

Co-Owner Bahaneh Hobel tells What Now San Francisco that Hobel Wines plans to begin pouring at a shared tasting room at 810 Foothill Boulevard alongside six other wineries. The producer currently has a winegrower license pending.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Hobel Wines, the label was established in 2009, when Co-Owner Cameron Hobel and Winemaker Thomas Brown debuted the 2009 Hobel Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Previously, the business held tastings at Heron House in San Francisco, before the space shuttered.

Besides being Cameron’s family name, a hobel is a traditional woodworking plane that’s used to smooth, balance, and finish wood surfaces. Hobel Wines shares on its website, “A skilled craftsman in his own right, winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown has created a smooth and balanced wine that respects the integrity of the fruit and reflects the terroir from which it came.”

Hobel Wines is slated to begin offering tastings by late August. Follow the label on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
