According to Sonoma News, a recent fire at Picazo Café resulted in “extensive damage and has left the restaurant in a state of uncertainty.”

The Journal reports, “While the kitchen remains undamaged, residual flames and smoke from the fire reached the front reception area and have left the building, ‘inoperable,’ according to co-owner Salvador Chavez Jr. The restaurant also lost much of its inventory and equipment in storage.”

For readers who are unfamiliar with the concept, Picazo Café offers a brief introduction on its website: “In 2009 the Chavez Picazo family opened Picazo Cafe… Today Picazo Cafe is still a family-owned business, owned and operated by Salvador and Kina Chavez.”

“We’ve had a really great team with us for a long time now,” Salvador Chavez Jr. tells the Journal. He continues, “Our biggest thing is trying to keep them busy and employed so that if we are able to figure out a way to get back up and running soon, they’re still around and part of our team. Every time we hire someone, it seems that they kind of indirectly become family.”

Located at 19100 Arnold Drive, the eatery is neighbor to establishments such as El Verano Inn, Juanita Juanitas, and Valley Swim Club.
