According to SF Eater, fried chicken chain Pollo Campero is expanding its Bay Area footprint, planning to open a new outpost in San Pablo.

Coming to a shopping center at the corner of San Pablo Avenue and San Pablo Dam Road, the eatery will land near establishments such as Americana Pizza & Taqueria, Jersey Mike’s, and Planet Fitness.

“The new 2,619-square-foot building will have an attached drive-thru” and “the expansion is part of a move to grow the brand to 250 U.S. locations by 2028,” the Journal reports.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the Guatemalan-born chain, Pollo Campero “is a nostalgic favorite for many Guatemalans and Salvadorans who’ve moved stateside, some of whom are fanatical enough about the food to bring boxes of chicken to the United States for family members, as the Los Angeles Times reported in 2021,” shares Eater.

In addition to fried chicken, the menu boasts salads, empanadas, nuggets, and sides including mac & cheese, beans, and coleslaw.

This will mark the third location in the Bay Area.

Pollo Campero is slated to open in late 2025. Follow the eatery on Facebook for updates.
