Buildout for a Telfair Spices expansion could begin in Richmond’s Aliana neighborhood next month with Aliana Spices hopefully open and serving the public by the end of 2022 or early 2023, depending on construction and permitting.
“We’re pretty excited about this opportunity to serve our customers,” said Mehran Ali, owner of Telfair Spices and the newest addition to the brand, Aliana Spices. “I think it will be a nice addition.” With customers driving to Telfair from Aliana, Katy, and other locations, they thought opening a second location could better serve clientele.
Telfair Spices opened at 1219 Museum Square Dr., Ste. 100 in Sugar Land in 2017. Aliana Spices at NEC W. Grand Pkwy. S and W. Airport Blvd. in Richmond will be about 7,500 square feet, which is twice as big as Telfair Spices. “That gives us a lot more flexibility to carry a lot more product offering,” Ali said.
Aliana Spices will offer grocery products, 98-99% of which are imported from primarily India and Pakistan. “All your day-to-day use products that you may need to cook a delicious Indian, Indo-Pak meal, we’re going to be carrying those products,” Ali told What Now Houston. Aliana Spices will also offer frozen entrees, desserts, snacks, vegetables, ready-to-go meat products, and more.
The kitchen menu will feature all vegetarian food. “From your street snacks that you can enjoy back home, as well as your regular vegetable curries,” Ali explained. Local, hand-made bread will also be on the menu, and all offerings are made-to-order.
“Our food from Telfair Spices’ kitchen is pretty popular among our customers, so we’re trying to bring the same flavors to the local community in Aliana to serve them better.”
