A new concept from former The Pass and Provisions chef and owner Terrence Gallivan will open in Houston later this year. The neighborhood pizzeria and crudo bar, Elro Pizza // Crudo, is expected to open sometime in late summer or early fall at 2405 Genesee St. in Houston.
The former Craftsman residence underwent a total remodel and will feature about 40 seats indoor including the bar and about the same amount of seating outside. “We’re trying to retain a lot of the charm,” Gallivan said. The two-time James Beard Award for Best Chef nominee wanted to create a comfortable and relaxing space for people to enjoy a meal and a cocktail.
“Pizza and crudo will be the two focuses, so crudo will primarily be raw fish or lightly-cooked fish,” Gallivan said. “On the pizza side, not too traditional,” he continued. The pizza selection will include margarita, and most will feature a wide variety of ingredients, some with a more vegetable-focus or unique pizza toppings.
“Pizza’s fun to work with,” Gallivan told What Now Houston, “and most people enjoy pizza. I thought it would be a nice opportunity.” He said the crudo side will offer a lighter and more refreshing option.
Elro will feature a full bar with local beers and classic favorites. “The focus is on house cocktails that will change seasonally, as well as a wide variety of wine that will go well with both pizza and raw fish. So, there’s a unique opportunity there.”
It’s a neighborhood place where people can come after work and have a snack or enjoy dinner for a date night. “Hopefully, it’s a jack-of-all-trades restaurant for people,” Gallivan said.
