Bolivar Investment Group is planning a multi-phase development to bring more restaurant and housing options to Crystal Beach. The first phase of the 110-acre planned development on the Bolivar Peninsula will consist of The Zoo Beach Bar and Grill.
The 41,000-square-foot beachfront Icehouse concept is said to be the largest of its kind on the Texas Gulf Coast, according to the Bolivar Investment Group website. The Zoo will feature beachfront dining, an indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar, and year-round entertainment.
The two-story traditional galvanized metal warehouse building will include open deck areas. The outdoor ground floor bar and service areas will have picnic benches, stand-up tables, and multiple bars on the sand. Guests can enjoy a game of volleyball or pickleball.
The main outdoor entertainment deck at The Zoo will feature a stage pavilion and several jumbotron televisions. Large flat screen TVs will be located around the floors to give guests a view of sports events or other televised broadcasts.
The first phase could be complete in summer of 2024. Phase 2 of the project will include The Peninsula Beach Resort RV Park, while Phase 3 will bring more than 100 unique beach side cottages to the area. Merchants Row for shopping will be part of Phase 4, with Phase 5 offering more than 100 luxury beachfront condominiums. The plan for Phase 6 is to build The Peninsula Beach Hotel and Resort with more than 100 luxury rooms, sky decks, and poolside cabanas.
