Construction is finally underway on southwest Las Vegas’s upcoming dining, entertainment, and shopping destination The Bend. Among other food & drink and retail concepts, the development will be home to Dinette, winner of Dapper CompaniesGreat Las Vegas Coffee Shop Giveaway (along with Winnie & Ethel’s).

“We wanted a concept that could recreate the old Vegas diner with the lunch counter and the drugstore,” local restaurateur Nick Della Penna told What Now on Thursday. Della Penna is a co-creator of the concept with Trent Jones and Jerad Howard.

“A comfortable place that isn’t trying to be too pretentious, that just has really good food, authentic service, and a bit of a throwback.”

Dinette will offer classic diner dishes: think meatloaf with mashed potatoes, French toast, and a killer Reuben. But even if the brand looks to be unpretentious, it has a focus on doing things right, and doing them in-house.

“We’ll be brining our own corned beef, making our own pickles, making fresh cut French fries, things like that.” Della Penna said. “We have generational recipes for meatloaf. These are a lot of small things that are going to make a difference and separate us from other diners.”

Thus far, The Bend has faced some delays, like most big projects (and small ones) these last few years. Della Penna says Dinette is expected to open in its doors in Q4 of 2023.
