While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, founded by Nick Greiner and Tobias Hahn, this brewery is setting out to add a dash of German authenticity and innovation to the city’s rich beer culture.
Rosenstadt’s origin story is a testament to the power of shared passion. Tobias Hahn, a Ph.D. microbiologist from Freiburg, Germany, and Nick Greiner, with a background in hospitality and retail marketing, may seem an unlikely pairing at first glance. However, their paths crossed during a serendipitous encounter while taking their children to German language classes.
As the two families got to know each other, they discovered they had much in common, with one bond that stood out—their shared appreciation for beer. Specifically, the beer that Tobias grew up with in Germany and the brews that Nick came to adore over countless trips to the enchanting Black Forest.
With this shared love for beer and a desire to bring an authentic taste of Germany to Portland, Rosenstadt was born. Their vision encompasses more than just crafting beer; it includes a production facility to be established in the greater Portland area, ensuring that their creations can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Additionally, a biergarten is on the horizon, according to the company website.
