According to a recent permit filing, Dumpling House will soon open in the Boise area, located at 4311 North Williams Ave.

“Our goal opening date will be in December. We will be offering dumplings, different ramen options, and soups. We will also be partnering with Luscious Dumplings, which is based out of California,” Ting Chen, the owner of Dumpling House, told What Now Portland.

When it comes to Luscious, their story began in 2001 in San Gabriel, California with its founders Alan Lam and Grace Li. The name “Luscious” finds its roots in the Chinese name of the store, “潤豐元 Run Feng Yuan,” which translates to “moist abundant garden.” While the Chinese name sounded melodious in Mandarin, the word “moist” didn’t quite fit the context of their dumplings. As a result, “luscious” emerged as the perfect choice, embodying the sumptuous nature of their offerings.

Fast forward to 2012 when their daughter, Michelle Wu, and her husband, Ker Zhu, embarked on a new chapter by opening the Monrovia branch of Luscious. Dedicated to preserving the essence of their heritage, each day, around 6 AM, Ker and his team procure the freshest produce and visit the butcher shop to ensure the meat for their dumplings meets the highest standards.

Here, they grind the meat to perfection, avoiding trimmings and focusing on quality. The meticulous process continues with the preparation of the fillings, kneading and rolling the dough, and expertly hand-folding hundreds of dumplings, according to Luscious Dumpling’s website.
