Pollo Campero, a Central American chicken chain with locations throughout the Americas, will soon be opening s south Austin location, according to a recent report in Eater. The restaurant is slated to open at 166 W. Slaughter Lane, near Sonic and Chick-Fil-A.
According to public records, the development of the 2,582 square foot site will cost approximately $2,100,000. Despite initial estimates, the restaurant is now projected to open in 2024.
Founded in Guatemala in 1971, Pollo Campero has since expanded to and throughout the Caribbean, the Americas, Europe, and Asia. As its name suggests, the chain centers chicken as its primary product, serving it fried, baked, and grilled alongside sides such as french fries, rice, plantains, yucca, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw.
