According to recent public records, NYC’s wildly popular, Michelin-approved The Flower Shop will soon be building out an Austin location at 1300 E 7th Street.
“The Flower Shop is your local Pub,” the official website states. “Drawing inspiration from cheeky Australian watering holes, charming Midwest American diners, the timeless allure of classic bars, and the cozy nostalgia of classic finished basements. Despite its inconspicuous location, this ‘off the beaten path’ bar and restaurant has rapidly become a true New York City hidden gem, attracting a diverse clientele that includes locals, tourists, influencers, and celebrities.”
“Indulge in contemporary comfort food and pub cuisine in the inviting ground floor dining room and bar. For a more immersive experience, explore the basement, where a full bar and dinner menu await, accompanied by a pool table, a warming fireplace, flatscreen TVs, and a sunken living room.”
While little information is available regarding this exciting new development, it is corroborated by a brief exchange in Nylon’s October 2023 interview with co-owner Ronnie Flynn:
“I’ve been trying to do LA since the day we opened. We’re looking at all the obvious places in general. Nashville, Austin, Florida, California, and then obviously, potentially overseas. We have some opportunities potentially in Sydney and Australia that we’ve been sort of discussing. We’re super down to see how far we can take it,” Flynn said.
“Earlier you mentioned an Austin trip coming up, is that to look for a permanent space?” asked Nylon later in the exchange.
“Yeah,” Flynn said in response.
According to the public records, the “remodel of roughly 2,300 SF conditioned space along with the building’s patio and roof deck” will cost around $500,000 and is expected to wrap up in June.
