La Michoacana Plus, a growing national ice cream chain, will soon be building up a Hutto location at 531 Ed Schmidt Blvd, within suite 130.

When asked whether the brand has anything to do with the well-known Michoacana meat market and take out establishment, store co-owner Jose De La Cruz (who runs the location alongside his wife Karina Guerrero) emphasizes this is a completely independent venture.

“What you know here is a meat market,” he tells What Now Austin. “La Michoacana is a neveria (ice cream shop).”

Given that Jose De La Cruz was traveling on Friday afternoon, he was not able to provide further information until early next week. In any case, curious readers can expect a classic Mexican ice cream & snack shop menu of elotes, mangonadas, raspas, paletas and standard milk ice cream.

La Michoacana Plus is expected to open by the end of June.
