Although an exact location has not been announced, Sam & George Coffee Co, the dog café that calls Curry Ford West home, confirmed its reopening on social media, sharing, “What a wild ride it’s been, but furiends, after almost a year, we’re coming back!” The café operated as a pop-up prior to the pandemic. (Dogs have it pretty good in Orlando, don’t they?)
“We’re excited to share that our new space will be right off of Kaley (less than a mile away from our old pop-up spot off of Curry Ford),” the post continued. “And the better news is: THIS ISN’T A POP-UP!” Owners Fran and Adam Chong are featured in the announcement photograph alongside the café’s first pups, Sam and George.
Sam & George Coffee Co. has gone through a couple of evolutions since it first opened in 2019. The café, inspired by cat cafés across the world, began as a mobile coffee stand with the goal of eventually opening a brick-and-mortar where patrons could sip coffee while hanging out with adoptable pups. But locals were also keen on bringing their own dogs to a super dog-friendly spot, and eventually Sam & George Coffee Co. shifted gears. While the café is still focused on supporting adoptable dogs (it previously partnered with Pet Alliance), it has become a place where you can bring your own dogs for a pick-me-up.
While we don’t have the café’s exact address yet, we can say the owners are over the moon to open in close proximity to the original spot: “Guys, we’re SO excited to be back in this community that loved us so well last year. We cannot wait to see you and your PAWrents at our new spot, so stay tuned!”
The café is projected to reopen later this fall.
