World-famous recording artist Bad Bunny, in partnership with Groot Hospitality’s David Grutman, has opened “Japanese-inspired” steakhouse Gekko in Brickell. The opening was attended by a number of VIP guests like Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava, David Beckam, and DJ Khaled, according to coverage on nbcmiami.com.
“Gekko’s aesthetic is lush, luxe, and jewel-toned,” reads the restaurant’s website. “With design accents like custom wallpaper, dark and rich palettes and hints of soft golden light, the restaurant transports visitors to an intimate rare nocturnal word.” The word gekko, its points out, means moonlight.
The menu opens with shareables like Japanese Milk Bread and Black Edamame, plus starters like Tiger Prawn Cocktail and Lobster Dumplings. From the raw bar comes Lava and ice Kumamoto Oysters with watermelon granita and fresno chili and Royal Osetra Caviar, followed by a selection of maki and nigiri sushi choices.
The menu’s Main Plates include a Grilled Whole Lobster, Crispy Snapper with shiso salsa verde and ginger chili, and Black Cod with crispy kale and saikyo miso. And for what is perhaps the real main event: Gekko’s steaks, which include a 32 oz 30 Day Dry Aged Tomahawk and a 6 oz 15-day koji aged Wagyu Filet.
Gekko is located in Brickell, at 8 SE 8th St.
