Little Havana appears to be the future home of a new Asian-Cuban restaurant: Zanja, a concept from Executive Chef Luis Pous. Pous has previously been involved with projects like San Diego’s Vessel Restaurant and Key West’s Hot Tin Roof Restaurant.

Zanja is described on ChefPousCorp.com as a “Cuban Asian concept [rooted] in El Barrio Chino in Habana Cuba.” The website mentions a first location that was to open in the spring of 2020 in Casco Viejo, Panamá City, Panamá.

What Now was unable to reach a representative of the brand for immediate comment on Friday. For now, many of the details behind the Zanja concept remain unknown. Stay tuned for updates from What Now as these are revealed.

The location given for the restaurant in a recently submitted plan review is on Southwest Eighth Street, between Southwest 11th Avenue and Southwest 10th Avenue. Other eateries along that stretch of Eighth Street include La Esquina del Pan con Bistec, La Esquina Tropical, and BARgean Miami.
