Just north of the intersection between South Federal Highway and Southeast First Street, a new Cuban cafe concept is getting ready to open its doors. A plan review was submitted recently for a restaurant called Cafe Toque Cubano, which is planned for 37 S Federal Highway in Dania Beach.

The restaurant will offer Cuban comfort foods like the Minuta sandwich, a fish sandwich with a battered snapper fillet, and many others—plus breakfast.

“There’s nothing Cuban in the area,” owner Jose Lopez told What Now on Tuesday, describing the ways Cafe Toque Cubano will meet the needs of the neighborhood. “And nothing offers breakfast. But it’s a prime location. There’s a lot around, with the [Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood] airport less than a mile away.”

Breakfast will include Cuban bread with butter, Cuban coffee, scrambled eggs and omelets, plus Cuban empanadas, croquettes and more.

“We already have the experience,” said Lopez, who has been working in food service for seven years, including having helped found Dania Beach’s award-winning Little Cuban Cafe, which made a list of 25 Best Cuban Restaurants in the US.

So keep an eye out for Cafe Toque Cubano in Dania Beach. It’s headed for an opening before the end of the year.
