Old Lisbon, a local family-owned restaurant with locations currently operating in Miami and South Miami, is preparing to open a third location in Aventura. The Aventura restaurant replaces a previous location in Sunny Isles Beach, which has picked up stakes and is expected to open in the new spot at 2960 NE 199th St. #A5 this spring.
“The menu will be very similar and have nicer food presentations,” co-owner Carlos Silva told What Now on Friday. “The Aventura location will have great food specials to go with the incredible ambiance we are building.”
Silva is the son of brand’s founder, Carlos Silva, who opened the first Old Lisbon in 1991. The second location followed in 2011.
The South Miami location’s menu opens with Petiscos Tradicionais like Bolinhos de Bacalhau (Codfish Croquettes, Black eyed peas) and Polvo Grelhado, a sizzling sautéed octopus in garlic sauce. Starters include fried seafood mix Frito Misto and Mexilhões à D. Francisco (Mussels in Tomato Consommé with Portuguese Sausage Medallions).
Next, the menu offers a number of approaches to Bacalhau, Portugal’s beloved salted codfish, including Bacalhau à Old Lisbon (Breaded Cod Fillet, Onion, Garlic, Mashed Potatoes, Olive Oil) and Bacalhau à Bras (Shredded Cod, Onions, Garlic, String Potatoes, Scrambled Eggs). A selection of dishes from both land and sea follows, including grilled salmon and Filet Mignon.
“We’re so excited to be a part of the city of Aventura, where we’ve always wanted to be,” Silva said. “We feel like we’re getting back to our clients.”
Old Lisbon Aventura is expected to open in March or April of 2023.
