Stationed in Sunrise, Getsemani Internacional Food Truck gained a following with its menu of Latin cuisine specializing in Puerto Rican food. The brand is now working to open its third brick-and-mortar location. Getsemani Cafe will open in suite 102 at 6451 N Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale.

What Now confirmed the news in a Tuesday morning phone call with owner Nilio Mujica.

“That stage was crucial for our business,” Mujica added in a later email conversation, describing the way the brand (which Mujica runs in partnership with his wife) built experience during its early time as a food truck. “I have 20 years in the industry mastering Latin, American, and Mexican cuisine. My concept is a function of everything learned in these years.”

The name is significant: readers may recall it as the name of the garden where Christ kept watch on the night before the crucifixion.

“We both work hard to maintain our operation,” Mujia said. “We are a Christian family, from which our name is Getsemani.”

Getsemani’s menu opens with breakfast choices that include omelets like the Mexican Omelet (Combination of pepper cheese, pico de gallo, jalapeõs, ham, turkey guacamole and side of fresh salsa), plus a croissant sandwich and breakfast tacos. Next comes a selection of salads topped with a choice of protein (chicken, shrimp, or pork), including the Getsemani Salad, which features pico, tortilla stripps, and cilantro, and a Nacho Salad.

Tacos and Chalupas also offer guests a choice of protein (from the same three options, plus steak) and come in varieties like Classic, California (with avocado, bacon, and cilantro), BBQ, and Ranchero.

You can check out Getsemani Cafe today in its Sunrise and Deerfield Beach locations.
