Oakland Park will soon be home to a new Thai restaurant. Nour Thai Kitchen & Bar will open at 3554 NE 12th Avenue, offering what co-owner Edric Espinoza calls “unapologetically Thai” dishes from the cuisine of Thailand’s northeastern Isan region.
“It’s going to be good, fresh ingredients brought straight to the table,” Espinoza told What Now on Friday. Espinoza is opening the restaurant with his business partner, Nopy, who hails from the Isan region.
The name Nour means flavor—or, perhaps better, as Espinoza puts it, “umami in a Thai style.” So what flavors can we expect?
“There’s going to be authentic larb, Isan sausage, curries that are authentic to Thai flavor,” Espinoza said. “Plus, amazing crab fried rice made with jumbo lump crab.”
The restaurateurs are also behind Malakor Thai Cafe, a brand born in West Palm Beach and which has expanded to several locations in South Florida. And one thing all these restaurants have in common is a focus on the visual component, made visible by the locations’ hand-painted murals (pictured below).
“We like to provide an experience around what you’re eating, not just with the food, but with the environment.”
