Coming “soon-ish,” new restaurant concept Bargean is headed to Little Havana, where it will offer a menu of Aegean-inspired Latin cuisine. The new restaurant will open at 1010 SW 8th Street.

“The flavors are going to be grounded in Latin flavors that are familiar to most of us here in Miami,” owner Oscar Zapata told What Now on Friday. The experience, said the serial restaurateur behind concepts like SHOTS and MOAN Sandwiches, will be as “if you were to take the beauty of the Aegean Sea and combine it with the ambiance of Mykonos and then sprinkle some Miami over it.”

The menu is still under development but can be expected to include a raw bar and seafoods like oysters, crabs, and Aegean fish, Zapata said.

“The Aegean is a very deep, dark body of water, and it’s home to some very exotic species of fish.”

Opening near the intersection of Southwest Eighth Street and Southwest 10th Avenue, Bargean will join a culinary community that includes eateries like La Esquina del Pan con Bistec, Naranja Piña Gelato, and La Esquina Tropical.

“We’re super excited,” Zapata said. “This is a love project, and it’s family-run.”
