Located in Miami’s Bayside Marketplace, La Cañita is a popular Caribbean and Cuban restaurant from James Beard Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein, who has been in the news recently for the long-awaited reopening of Sra. Martinez.
Well, it looks like a busy year for chef Bernstein, as La Cañita now is at work on a new location, this time in Kendall, in the The Palms at Town & Country, at 8405 Mills Dr. Suite 203.
“Bringing bold, exciting Caribbean & Cuban food, live music, and a celebration of rum culture to Bayside Marketplace,” says a description on the La Cañita website. “La Cañita, which translates from Spanish to ‘little sugarcane,’ is a restaurant that celebrates the food and flavor of tropical, sun-drenched destinations like Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, and Puerto Rico, along with influences from Central and South America.”
The dinner menu offers a selection of empanadas and Hot & Cold Appetizers like Octopus with orange saffron aioli, yuca tostones, salsa criolla, and dill. Entrees from “Land” include La Cañita Burger (Two beef patties, American cheese, papitas, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions) and Ropa Vieja. Fish & Shellfish dishes include Whole Fried Red Snapper and Shellfish Stew with Half Lobster.
It’s not yet known whether any changes can be expected for the menu at the Palms & Town and Country.
