If you’ve ever driven down Van Buren looking for a bite to eat coming in or out of the airport, then you might be familiar with PHX Eats Cafe. The local breakfast and lunch spot has been serving up delicious meals with friendly, honest service since 2016.

What Now Phoenix has obtained a building permit in city public records suggesting that PHX Eats has something new up their sleeve. A restaurant titled “PHX Eats Tacos” is underway at 4801 E. Washington St., minutes away from the original PHX Eats location.

Representatives for the restaurant have been contacted but have not returned requests for comment by the time of publication. In any case, if this is a new PHX Eats stop, one can assume that their menu will be taco-forward, though we’ll never know until the space is finally up and running.

As for when that will happen, it could be another few months. The permit notes extensive buildout work on the 1,223 square-foot space, including installation of new equipment and a service counter, on top of typical electrical and plumbing work. Stay tuned for more information if and when it is obtained.
