Voodoo Doughnuts, notoriously known as one of the best doughnut chains in the country, is getting ready to open a new location in Tempe at 1324 S Rural Rd.

The Portland-based company is getting ready to expand its reach with a new site moving into the former homes of Costa Vida and Boston Market at an unknown time. Voodoo Doughnuts announced on social media with renderings that this would be the company’s 19th location and first in Arizona. The company, known for its pink doughnut boxes, has 17 locations across six states, most recently opening a second location in Austin. Voodoo Doughnuts is also working on a new site in Boulder.

Portland natives Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon started the concept in 2000 before opening a small storefront in Old Town three years later. Since then, Chris Schultz, former Senior Vice President of Operations for MOD Pizza, stepped in as CEO in 2017 and helped expand the brand even greater. When the new Tempe location opens, customers can expect beautiful gourmet doughnuts usually seen on Instagram. On top of having delicious flavors such as the maple bacon bar, captain crunch, and viscous hibiscus, the company also offers various vegan doughnut options.

“Voodoo Doughnut’s clients and fans attribute the company’s success to its development of imaginative and distinctive doughnut flavors and products, and they frequently request that a Voodoo Doughnut store opens in their neighborhood,” according to the company’s website. “In response to customer demand, the company aims to expand its product line and geographical footprint by opening new locations throughout the U.S.”
