The Kolache Cafe, a popular bakery in Ahwatukee, is planning to open at least four locations in the greater Phoenix area.

Previously, What Now Phoenix reported on two locations, one in Gilbert and another in East Mesa, both expected to open in October 2023. Now that a year has come and gone, and neither has opened, the company has shifted plans and will open two additional locations before the first two, according to its website. To finish the year, the company plans to open a new location in Mesa/ North Gilbert at 1942 E Southern Avenue, Suite # 101, and in Mesa/ North Chandler at 2748 S Alma School Road.

These two locations are expected to open before the end of the year. Then, after those two locations open, the company will focus on the original two expansion plans, starting in Gilbert at 3635 S Val Vista Dr. # 107. Finally, by the end of 2025, Kolache Cafe will open a fifth location in Mesa’s Eastmark neighborhood. Owner Bebe Leal tells What Now Phoenix that while the company hesitates to give official opening dates due to construction, she hopes to open Kolache Cafe at Southern and Gilbert in November 2024, followed by Kolache Cafe at Alma School and Guadalupe in December 2024. The location at Val Vista and 202 is planned to open in February 2025, while the East Mesa site is scheduled to open at the end of 2025.

“Whether you’re dashing on the go, in the midst of productive work meetings, or enjoying special moments with family and friends, our delightful assortment of traditional Czech sweet and fruit kolaches, alongside savory Texas-style kolaches, is the ultimate treat,” according to the company’s website. “Perfect for breakfast and lunch, these kolaches are stuffed with all-time favorite flavors like bacon, egg and cheese, Italian sausage and gravy, smoked sausage and cheese, and brisket mashed potatoes and cheese. Each bite promises a unique blend of sweet and savory, making them a standout choice for any occasion.”
