Popular Mexican Eatery Plans to Open a Fifth Location in Metairie

Habanero’s is planning to open another location in Lakeside Shopping Center.

A popular Mexican eatery is set to open its fifth location at according to recent reporting. The newest Habanero’s eatery will be in a 3,600 square foot space in the Lakeside Shopping Center, located at 3301 Veterans Memorial Blvd.

Habanero’s started in 2014 by Omar Lugo, along with support from his wife, Dulce. The eatery is self-described as Mexican urban cuisine and the menu has been developed by chef Oscar Rodriguez. 

The decor at each Habanero’s is vibrant, with the use of colorful lighting and wall art, as well as incorporating plants and greenery throughout. When it comes to the food, guests can expect to find cuisine that mirrors Mexican street food and casual eateries throughout Mexico. 

There are tacos, wraps and salads on the menu as well as items like carne asada, fajitas, burritos and seafood entrees and shareables like guacamole, queso fundido and nachos. There are also desserts, soft drinks and cocktails ranging from margaritas to martinis. 

As detailed in the previous reporting, the tentative timeline for opening the Metairie location is in the fourth quarter of 2023. What Now Nola reached out to Habanero’s to determine a firm timeline for opening, but a response wasn’t received by the time this article was published.
