Lower Coast Coffee is an emerging local company based in Algiers Point and founder Patrick Kelly is currently scouting locations for a café, with a focus on the neighborhood surrounding the company’s headquarters at 801 Verret St. Kelly recently told What Now New Orleans that Lower Coast will have a traditional New Orleans roast coffee made with chicory, a dark French roast, and a medium roast; all made with beans sourced from Costa Rica. At first, the coffee will only be available in local stores and online. He is currently working on developing a wholesale side of the business.

Kelly also said his coffee company will be focused on supporting local arts, and his plans for a café include a live performance space that will feature acts in the late afternoon and early evening. He described the performance space as low-key and intimate, rather than a raucous concert venue.

“Imagine if Neutral Ground Coffeehouse and Bacchanal Wine had a baby,” Kelly said with a laugh. He added that more details about Lower Coast Coffee will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
