For more than 50 years, Pizza Village has been a local treasure in Lafayette, but that’s set to change with major franchising plans and a new location in nearby Breaux Bridge.  The new location at 1810 Rees Street is currently under construction and it will be the pizzeria’s third location when it opens later this year. According to reports, it will feature a large dining space, open kitchen, bar, patio seating and drive-thru window for pick-up orders. What Now New Orleans reached out to ownership for details on the new location and franchising plans, but they declined to comment.

Fans of Pizza Village’s pies with their cracker-thin crust may not have to make the trek out to Lafayette in the near future, as a recently launched franchising plan could bring locations into New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The company has announced that it’s looking to place additional locations in the Gulf South, stretching from Texas to Florida. Pizza Village currently has two locations in Lafayette, at 1935 Moss St. and 2340 Kaliste Saloom Road. It was established in 1971 by James “Buddy” Tarpley and Glenn Landry, building a loyal following over the decades with its signature style of crispy pizza.
