Founded as a vegan bakery featuring cinnamon rolls in 2010, Cinnaholic shot to fame when the founders pitched their business on a 2014 episode of Shark Tank, and now, the first Cinnaholic location is being planned for Uptown at 4921 Freret St. Franchisee Keiyanah Ratleff recently told What Now New Orleans that she was drawn to Cinnaholic for its vegan options and use of quality ingredients. She added that she and her partner Matthew Ratleff targeted a Freret Street location due to foot traffic on the street.

“A lot of people come there to walk, and eat, and party,” she said. “So, why not grab a sweet treat while you’re out there?”

According to permit filings with the City of New Orleans, the building will undergo major, non-structural renovations so it can be converted into a Cinnaholic location. Ratleff said the plan is to open by the end of 2024. “This is a real labor of love journey because we have to turn a house into a commercial bakery,” she said.
