The Perkins Road Overpass area has become a tidy dining destination in Baton Rouge, but the compact nature of the area can make it difficult to navigate. For that reason, The Big Squeezy juice bar is moving to a location down the road, as the company looks to expand in the near future.

Franchisee Donnie Crye told What Now New Orleans that the move to 4257 Perkins Rd. will mean a more accessible location.

“The parking is limited and our employees were forced to park in back, under the overpass,” he said, citing safety concerns. “Also, it’s been hard for our customers to come into the store and get what they need. We didn’t want to completely get out of the area, and we found a location less than a mile down the street.”

Founded by California native Ash Shoukry, The Big Squeezy offers all-natural pressed juices, smoothies and smoothie bowls. Saints running back Alvin Kamara opened a franchise location in the Central Business District in 2021, and Crye hinted at plans for further expansion.

“I love what we’re doing!” he said. “We’re bringing healthy options and it’s delicious. The products are great and the culture is great, with Ash, myself and Alvin Kamara down in New Orleans. We’re looking to hopefully expand.”
