Started by two college students, Shake Smart is a national smoothie chain focused on providing healthy options to on-the-go college students. Shake Smart locations are typically located on or near college campuses and a new location is being planned for Irby Hall on the Tulane University campus at 27 McAlister Dr. According to a permit filing with the City of New Orleans, the new Shake Smart location will be a quick service restaurant serving smoothies, acai bowls, Greek yogurt, oatmeal, coffee and toasts.

According to the Shake Smart website, the company is focused on offering nutritional, high-protein foods that are easy to eat on the go. The signature shakes from Shake Smart include at least 25 grams of protein, and fresh fruits and vegetables. The company also offers vegan, gluten free and lactose free shakes. Shake Smart says it does not use ice cream, frozen yogurt, concentrates or processed sugars in its shakes.
