When the sophisticated Second Story cocktail bar opened in downtown Baton Rouge earlier this month, the second-floor bar was only half of the entire concept for the building at 214 N. Third St. Later this summer, the same owners will debut an upscale nightclub called Violet on the first floor. Both floors used to be home to Boudreaux & Thibodeaux’s, which has since moved a few blocks down Third Street.
Violet is inspired by southern nightlife with a slight Latin bent, taking inspiration from the Miami and Atlanta club scenes. With its namesake color scheme, Violet will also pay tribute to the French heritage of southern Louisiana in a way that’s modern and sophisticated. According to a report from BRProud, owners will attract national DJ talent that will perform with a modern light show. Like Second Story, Violet will not have a food menu, but it will have an upscale cocktail program.
Owners Tommy Talley and David Facey are rising entrepreneurs in Baton Rouge. The partners have been talking about plans for elevating downtown Baton Rouge nightlife with a number of different concepts.
