A Restaurant, Bar, and Event Center is Set to Replace a Popular Baton Rouge Café

Permit filings indicated a new restaurant is coming to Scotland Avenue in BR.

When Southern Cofe in Baton Rouge closed in March, the community mourned the loss of a beloved local institution. Fortunately, that space is about to get new life as a permit filing with the City of Baton Rouge indicates a restaurant, bar, and event center is coming to 8418 Scotland Ave. Posts to social media suggest that ownership is currently looking to hire bartenders and cooks. What Now New Orleans has reached out for comment.

As for Southern Cofe, it appears that the owner is still looking for a new location for the popular café. When the café was closing, a post on the official social profile only said “our journey in this space” and it left the door open for the company to find a new location.
