Lake Park will soon be welcoming a new LGBTQ bar into its—and all of Palm Beach County’s—nightlife scene. Called the Purple Lizard, this new upscale nightlife destination will open at 826 Park Avenue, according to submitted plan review documents.

“Palm Beach County really only has one or two gay bars,” a representative of the Purple Lizard told What Now on Thursday. “There’s nowhere people can really call their own. So we decided, you know what, we’re going to open a place people can call their own!”

Details are still scarce on the opening timeline and, indeed, the concept itself. But the Purple Lizard’s Facebook page says it will be the “Premier LGBTQ Bar located [in] Palm Beach County,” with an “upscale vibe… the ultimate destination.”

Opening on Park Avenue between Eighth and Ninth Streets, the Purple Lizard will join local businesses like Saigon Oriental Food Market, Confusion Records, and Haitian restaurant Creole Social.

What Now is awaiting more information on The Purple Lizard, so stay tuned for updates.
