A local coffee shop is heading to East Village. Buddies Coffee inked a lease this month for a new location in a 200-square-foot space at 226 E. Third Street, as reported by EV Grieve.

Co-owners Rachel Nieves opened Buddies Coffee with professional skateboarder Taylor Nawrocki in Williamsburg in 2020. This will be the second location for the brand. Their coffee offerings include unique menu items like the popular coquito latte, which Nieves — a Puerto Rican native — pulls from one of her own family recipes.

Nieves confirmed in a phone call with What Now New York that the new location was on the way but she was not immediately available to provide further comment.

While an exact timeline for opening remains unknown, the spot appears to be in the early stages of development as the lease was just signed and buildout is still to come. Customers can likely expect a 2025 opening.
