As Acropolis Greek Taverna has opened its new downtown Orlando location at 390 N. Orange Ave, the brand is eager to expand in the area in the beyond, per recent reporting in OBJ.

Co-owner Mike Mikula, Mitch’s brother, previously told Orlando Business Journal the 5,500-square-foot space – formerly home to DoveCote – required minimal renovations and was well-suited to the brand’s needs.

“The kitchen is amazing — actually larger than we need,” said Co-owner Mike Mikula, adding that the only major change was to convert the outdoor area into a dining space for weddings and charitable events.

He and his agent spent a year scouting Orlando for the right spot before settling on the North Orange location, citing its high foot traffic near the courthouse. “We looked at several spaces, but this one stood out.”

Now that the downtown location is up and running, Mike Mikula is looking at four to five new area spots, as well as expansion into Atlanta and Tallahassee.

“We’re actively looking to grow in the Southeast,” he said.

Reportedly, Broker Rene Wagner, who worked with Acropolis on the lease, said she has potentially found a Winter Park location along the booming Fairbanks Avenue corridor that’s “a good fit for Acropolis.” OBJ adds that the restaurant could sign a lease as soon as January, she said.

Beyond the upcoming Winter Park location, Lake Nona, Waterford Lakes and Ocoee are potential targets for the brand.

Readers unfamiliar with Acropolis can expect a wide range of classic Greek dishes such as Gyros, Souvlaki with skewers of chicken or pork, as well as wraps filled with lamb, chicken or gyro meat, and more.
