Taiwanese bakery and cafe 85°C Bakery Cafe is preparing to open a new location in Glendale’s Arrowhead Ranch at 7280 W Bell Rd.

The company’s newest location is set to open at the northeast corner of 73rd Ave & Bell Road, where Slapfish and Costa Vida used to be, according to UpperWestSidePHX. A company representative tells What Now Phoenix that this will be the second drive-thru location in the country, following the first that opened in New Jersey. This location is scheduled for a soft opening on January 3, followed by a grand opening in February 2025.

This is a massive accomplishment for the company, considering it opened its first U.S. store in Irvine in 2008. The location quickly became an overnight sensation, with over 5,000 Yelp reviews and lines out the door. Featured on TIME, CNN, NPR, and Travel Channel, 85°C Bakery Cafe has become a culinary phenomenon and a new cafe experience for all. Today, the company has 538 locations in Taiwan and at least 400 in the United States. The majority of locations, including this new Glendale site, are corporate-owned.

“85°C Bakery Cafe is not an ordinary cafe,” according to the company’s website. “Each cup of coffee is individually brewed with Guatemalan coffee beans for a smooth, rich taste. All of our drinks are handcrafted and made to order. Each store features an in-shop bakery with over 50 varieties of pastries baked fresh hourly. Our gourmet cakes are uniquely crafted by our award-winning master chefs. We strive to bring our customers the best products possible by paying careful attention to every detail which may affect its taste.”
