According to a recently submitted permit application, Berkeley’s Breads of India — currently located at 2448 Sacramento Street, near Helacio’s Deli & Cafe, Mehak Indian Cuisine, and Tanzie’s — is eyeing a spot next door.

What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s owner, Rao Singh, to inquire about his plans for the eatery, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

For locals who are unfamiliar with Breads of India, the eatery offers a “changing menu of breads, curries & other classic Indian fare in a warm space with exotic decor,” according to its Google Business profile.

The restaurant’s signature dish is its Masaledar Bharwa Karela, “a Punjabi delicacy that will make even the first-time taster fall in love,” made with marinated bitter melon stuffed with chopped red onions, mashed potatoes, ginger, garlic, pickled mango paste, turmeric, a ground blend of spices, whole cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds.

Stay tuned for updates.
