According to a recent permit filing with the city of Columbus, plans are in place to add an ice cream bar inside Center of Science and Industry (COSI), located at 333 W Broad St. As detailed in the permit filing, the scope of work includes new fixtures, lighting and the addition of an ice cream bar, and the work is projected to cost $575,000 to complete.
The new ice cream bar will be brought to the museum through a partnership with SSA Group, a Denver based company that provides food and beverage service to museums, zoos and attractions throughout the U.S. The new ice cream bar, named Absolute Zero, will serve up frozen treats made with liquid nitrogen, according to an official with COSI.
The science based museum already has an eatery inside it, called Atomic Cafe, that serves wraps, deli sandwiches and salads along with pizza and grill items like burgers and hot dogs.
In addition to the cafe, the museum also hosts food and beverage events called COSI After Dark, one past event was an adult prom and featured food and cocktails along with music, dancing and exhibits.
