The Hills Market Downtown, located at 95 N. Grant Avenue, is getting ready to officially change hands in Columbus and eventually become Charmy’s Market.
The gourmet grocery store recently announced that it will be owned and operated by Sherry and Rezi Bayegan, who have owned Charmy’s Persian Taste since 2019, according to Columbus Business First. The two new owners will transition The Hills Market Downtown to become Charmy’s Market starting March 1. The change came after the Hills Market leadership decided to consolidate and focus all operations at the Worthington Hills Market, located at the Olentangy Valley Centre Shopping Center at 7860 Olentangy River Rd.
“Rezi and I are incredibly grateful and excited for this opportunity and the support we’ve received from the community and the Hills Market team,” Sherry Bayegan said in a press release. “We look to expand the offerings of the market, with continued high-quality kitchen and catering options, locally sourced meats, Amish produce, an increased variety of groceries, including international selections, and culinary events for customers of all ages.”
This is a significant achievement for the new ownership team, who moved to Ohio to escape persecution in Tehran, Iran, where they previously owned a restaurant. Charmy’s Market began as a pop-up shop offering chicken and lamb kebabs, stews, and Persian meatballs. They later expanded their menu to include sandwiches, hot foods, and grab-and-go items. Kyle Baker, co-owner of The Hills Market and managing partner of The Hills Market Downtown, expressed gratitude in a statement, saying they have enjoyed the past 12 years and appreciate the support from staff and customers.
“We have enjoyed nearly 12 years of operating the Hills Market Downtown and are extremely thankful to our staff for their service and to our amazing customers for their loyalty and support,” Baker said in the release. “We are excited to offer the enterprising Charmy’s team this opportunity and know the future is bright and that this downtown store will continue to serve as a vibrant neighborhood amenity.”
